This was taken During the Salt Festival. Every festival here in Taiwan they performed this act as they carry the statue that symbolize their Gods and walk through the streets while playing the drums and Chinese cymbals.
What I like about this photo: This is a very intense photo, it brings so much feeling and meaning instantly to sight. It's obvious that this is an emotional and real life event. I really love how you did this in black and white it gives it all the more impact. What I don't like about this photo: I guess for me anyways I would have liked to see the people from head to toe instead of cut off at the waist. Overall: Brilliant photo, very intriguing. I believe this is one of these best photo's for street photography that I have seen and it's so nicely executed. The paint and expressions on their face is really is a great thing to have captured at just the right time. Very nicely done!!
This is truly a wonderful example of photojournalism. As far as vision goes, this photo is strong. There seems to be a clear idea behind it, and is definitly has purpose. Sense of purpose is very difficult for a photo to express, but this photo does just that.
As far as to originality, the photo ranks high as well. I study history at the university, and have never come across this, even though I have dealt with Asia in a quite extensive manner. under all circumstances, the photo gives a glimpse of a culture, we don't usually see. So this photo is highly original.
Technically speaking, this photo is excellent. It is superbly executed. The angle is perfect, and the tones are so rich and intense, that the photo stands out.
It is interesting, that this photo left me curious. It might just be he first time, I have actually stopped at a photo, wondering what it depicted. It left me wanting to know more - that is the first time, I've tried that on deviantART. So the impact score is high, as well.
All in all a superb photo. Excellent technique, high originality, strong vision and high impact. Well done
